Vatternrundan Bike Race

The Conleys were back in Finland for about a week before my dad and my brother flew over from Canada!!

They were travelling to Sweden with Andrew to do a bike race Vatternrundan, which is a 300km bike race around Lake Vattern in Sweden. It is the 6th largest lake in Europe and there are 23000 cyclists who participate in this race.

A handful of cyclists leave the start line every few minutes over the span of 12 hours. Unfortunately the boys got a bad start time and had to leave at 9pm and cycle through the night. Thankfully they are amazing and accomplished a fantastic speed!!!!!

I am so proud of them for their accomplishment, for doing it together and persevering through some technical difficulties (Jeff).

The boys had Team Canada bike outfits but unfortunately Andrew's muscles were too big and his shirt is too tight, so Jeff and Pop were left to represent. They looked pretty spiffy and even got interviewed at the finish line for coming all the way from Canada!

They even managed to stop and enjoy some of the aspects of Sweden, including the beautiful scenery, the beer, and the fun ferry ride from Helsinki to Stockholm and back.

It was a fun experience for them and it was also great to have my brother here in Finland, whom I never thought would make it to Finland otherwise.

Proud of you boys. Canada represent!

It might be a race, but there's always time to stop and enjoy the scenery!
