Shortly after Penny's visit, Andrew's aunt and uncle from Caledon came to Boston to visit us. Although we don't get to see them nearly as much as we'd like, it is always a lot of fun to hang out with them. They are a very sweet couple who treasure family and always make a huge effort to see us when we are in Canada. They have been to Finland to visit us too, which is great!
They had been to Boston before but had a short list of things that they had missed, so it was great to see those places with them. Nora had purchased a book for Madison last year (before we knew we were coming to Boston) about a bunch of ducks from Boston. It was extra special to take Nora to the Boston Public Garden, where the story takes place, and take her on the swan boats, which are also mentioned in the book. They have duck statues in the park to commemorate this story.
We took them to the USS Constitution warship, we toured around Charlestown and the Bunker Hill area, climbed to the top of the Bunker Hill Monument, and toured the Mapparium, which is a stained glass version of the globe. On our last day with them, the kids and I took them to Fenway Park for a park tour, which was also very fun. And for Calvin's birthday, Andrew took Cal to a Red Sox game.
It was a lot of fun to tour around with them and the kids adore them a lot.
